About The Position

Works under limited supervision to install and maintain electrical systems. This role involves troubleshooting, installing, and repairing wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatuses, and control equipment. The position requires performing installations to minimize waste, ensure future maintenance access, and maintain aesthetically pleasing and safe wiring according to specifications and local electrical codes. The Electrician II will also prepare sketches or follow diagrams for wiring and equipment, and assemble and install electrical conduit using various tools. Testing circuit continuity using specialized equipment is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience as a licensed journeyman in the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment
  • High school diploma or possess a GED
  • Must have a Journeyman’s license.
  • Must pass a physical examination.
  • Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license or secure one by date of employment.
  • Must have daily access to a personal operable automobile and meet county requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Ability to use a variety of electrical testing equipment.
  • Ability to plan and carry out electrical installations and maintenance in conformance with required codes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others.
  • Must have manual dexterity.
  • Ability to climb and work at heights of 10-20 feet.
  • Must be able to work outdoors or in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

  • Trouble shoots, installs, repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatuses, and control equipment.
  • Performs installations to minimize waste of materials.
  • Provides access for future maintenance and avoids unsightly hazardous and unreliable wiring consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepares sketches showing location of all wiring and equipment or follows diagrams prepared by others (schematics).
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bander.
  • Tests continuity of circuit using ohmmeter, battery, buzzer, and oscilloscope to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of all components.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
