About The Position

This position performs standardized electrical repair duties requiring a basic knowledge of electrical/electronic theory while becoming familiar with high voltage equipment. The individual is expected to identify and remedy problems using independent judgment. This position is classified as essential personnel and may be required to report to work during departmental and/or emergency situations, including extended periods of inclement weather, as the plant cannot operate safely without sufficient personnel. The role regularly leads the work of other employees.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Possess a Journeyman Electrician license or four years of experience as an Apprentice Electrician.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Knowledgeable of electrical theory and practices.
• Knowledgeable of safety pertaining to electrical distribution systems and equipment.
• Basic computer skills to enter and maintain information in a computerized maintenance management system.
• Ability to read schematics and one-line drawings.
• Ability to use technical manuals, electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams.
• Ability to convey and receive information in written and verbal forms to others.
• Maintain good communications with supervisors and co-workers.
• Ability to pass a physical and physical ability assessment specific to this position.

Nice To Haves

• Class C Surface Water Treatment Operator License within three years.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, repairs, and maintains electrical systems and equipment.
• Locates and determines electrical malfunctions.
• Repairs the electrical components of pneumatic hydraulic or electronic equipment.
• Performs electrical preventive maintenance.
• Maintains calibration and repair schedules for electrical test equipment.
• Assumes the duties of Senior Electrician as required.
• May be assigned some lead duties of more junior level electricians to include training and communicating routine instructions.
• Performs all duties while observing safety guidelines and security measures.
• May be responsible for responding to various emergency situations, including after-hours, as directed by supervisor.
