About The Position

The Electrician II reports to the Maintenance Supervisor or the Shredder Operations Manager. The Electrician II is responsible for troubleshooting problems with hydraulics, mechanics, and equipment while ensuring that all of his/her efforts are compliant with the company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. The Electrician II must possess knowledge of electrical schematics, charging systems, stationary and mobile equipment. This position operates under flexible parameters. The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of the position. Providing the highest quality product safely, effectively and efficiently decreases accidents and errors and increase profits.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED Certification required.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Industrial Maintenance required.
• Candidates must be able to maintain current electrician’s license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
• This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive an automobile.
• All U.S. applicants must be 18 years of age or older and all Canada applicants must be 16 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
• Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Supports the Company’s Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating, and complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures, and controls to better relate to the business.
• Communicates upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.
