About The Position

Responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading electrical systems and equipment across campus facilities. This position supports the safe and efficient operation of campus electrical and renewable energy systems and ensures compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards. This role additionally provides support to the facilities team as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid journeyman electrician license/certification.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and maintenance procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Capable of prioritizing and following multiple projects and tasks through to completion with close attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license also required.
  • May be required to make emergency repairs at hours other than normally scheduled.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in commercial, industrial, educational, or institutional settings with HVAC controls, fire alarm systems, or energy management systems.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, controls, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical problems and determine appropriate corrective action.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on campus electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure electrical work complies with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
  • Maintain and repair lighting systems, panels, motors, generators, emergency systems, and building controls.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and emergency service calls in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other facilities staff on projects and repairs.
  • Maintain inventory of electrical supplies and recommend materials and equipment purchases.
  • Support the college's sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives through proper operation of renewable energy systems.
  • Coordinate inspection, testing, cleaning, and preventative maintenance of solar arrays, inverters, meters, and monitoring systems.
  • Participate in campus construction, renovation, and improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
  • Assist with snow removal, campus emergencies, or other facilities duties as assigned.
  • Follow all college safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.
  • Respond promptly to identify the needs of the college. Provide an effective customer service program through the recognition of customer sensitivity, meeting or exceeding customer expectations and delivering these services in a timely and responsive manner. Report significant conditions/situations to the Assistant Director of Facilities.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills, demonstrate reliability, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Fulfill other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
  • Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
