About The Position

The Electrician Craftsman 1 plans, lays out, installs, tests, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, motors, equipment, and control systems in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The role requires working with high- and low-voltage systems and using electrical and mechanical hand tools, as well as power, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical tools. The position is classified as intermediate. The electrician interprets drawings, sketches, software, and plans to determine work procedures and the tools and equipment needed to troubleshoot and repair problems. Work may involve installing conduit, supports, cable, duct banks, control and distribution apparatus, and wiring connections, as well as testing and starting up systems and repairing defective equipment. The employee may work outdoors in all weather, at heights, and in confined spaces, and may be required to work overtime, nights, and weekends based on workload.

Requirements

May require a high school diploma or equivalent and previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
Possess working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
Understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
Use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
Meet all physical requirements.
Have all required tools.
Be able to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces, potentially exceeding 200 feet.
Be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by workload.

Responsibilities

Interpret drawings, sketches, software, and plans, and determine work procedures and the tools and equipment needed to troubleshoot and repair problems.
Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit; weld supports; install cable and duct banks; and make terminations.
Install control and distribution apparatus and fasten it in place.
Test and start up systems and check circuit continuity to ensure electrical compatibility and component safety.
Observe installed equipment or systems in operation to identify hazards and determine whether adjustments, relocation, or replacement are needed.
Pull wire through conduit and connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment as required.
Work with high- and low-voltage systems.
Disassemble and repair defective electrical equipment or systems.
Operate electrical and mechanical hand tools and power, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical tools.
Comply with safety and project rules and perform other duties as required.
