About The Position

Shaw Industries is seeking a Electrician Advanced IV to train and mentor reliability electricians 1-3, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively. Involves design, installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems. Use of testing devices to troubleshoot electrical issues and inspect various electrical components. Maintain and upkeep equipment as assigned and participate in root cause analysis of machinery faults, identify the necessary steps to correct the faults, and make repairs and participate in finding solutions to eliminate future recurrence of the faults. Requirements

  • National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Control Components: Demonstrate calibration process of an analog flow sensing device according to the manufacturer's specifications
  • Electrical Motors: Describe how a servo motor works. Describe how a stepper motor works.
  • Human Machine Interface: Connect communications and install the HMI IP address. Install or download HMI programs. Back up HMI programs
  • Process Controls: Demonstrate ability to set up process controls (Flow, Level, Temperature, Pressure)
  • Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC): Demonstrate the ability to create and use Instructions with Symbolic or tag addressing
  • Ladder Logic: Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret for troubleshooting
  • Function Block Diagrams: Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret for troubleshooting
  • Robotics: Describe and demonstrate resetting the robot's path when it has stopped. PM robot. Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems. Demonstrate battery replacement. Demonstrate resetting rev counters. Demonstrate changing axis offsets for changes in cell. Repair or replace broken wiring on end arm tooling
  • Safety Circuits & Components: Identify within your facility a category 1, 2, 3, and 4 safety component.
  • Test Instruments: Demonstrate the operation of a Process Meter to include sinking and sourcing. Describe the purpose of the basic oscilloscope. Demonstrate a basic understanding of an oscilloscope. Demonstrate the safe operation of an oscilloscope. Demonstrate the safe operation of a voltage detector. (Tic-Tracer). Describe the purpose and practical use of a Portable Data Logger
  • Variable Frequency Drives: Demonstrate Sizing a drive for an application for a given motor
  • Basic math skills are essential
  • Must be able to operate a PIT (Fork/Squeeze) or willing to learn
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for the majority of shift.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry loads of up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, grasp and reach frequently.
  • Must be able to work with hands/arms extended overhead.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders repeatedly.
  • Must be able to operate hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to work in elevated environment (ladders, lifts, baskets, etc.) for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mechanical Equipment Repair/Upkeep Experience preferred.
  • May be required to operate aerial lift

Responsibilities

  • Train and mentor reliability electricians 1-3, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.
  • Design, installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Use of testing devices to troubleshoot electrical issues and inspect various electrical components.
  • Maintain and upkeep equipment as assigned.
  • Participate in root cause analysis of machinery faults, identify the necessary steps to correct the faults, and make repairs.
  • Participate in finding solutions to eliminate future recurrence of the faults.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor or plant management.
  • Attend all required meetings (first day back, safety, training, etc.).
  • General housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform General Plant Repairs (Bathroom, Office, Breakroom, Parking Lot, Painting, Roof, Etc.).
  • Ensure that all upkeep and repairs to asset/equipment will be documented in the CMMS (Sharp) system, including labor and materials used.
  • Meet set goals that include KPI’s that will improve efficiency, downtime reductions with a distinction of process and equipment related downtime.
  • Provide training to other technicians as required.
  • Complete DOSTool activities to current pay level.
  • Complete higher DOSTool activity levels as required.
  • Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures assisting in identifying the root causes of problems.
  • Assist in implementation of solutions to resolve equipment failures, preventing recurrences.
