About The Position

Shift A-Grade Electrician will install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and associated controls. They make sure that electrical systems are safe and reliable.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical maintenance and instrumentation
  • Plant experience in process control and reliability in a manufacturing facility
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED or other equivalency approved by Okeelanta Management.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical control systems as pertaining to motor starters and typical industrial interlocking schemes.
  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, dependable, good work ethic, organized, and safety conscious.
  • Must be capable of basic AC/DC circuit analysis.
  • Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers.
  • Thorough understanding of 120/208/240/277/480 VAC single & 3-phase wiring practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities, analytical and mechanical skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and assist with supervision of other electrical dept. members as well as being a team player.
  • Work is sometimes strenuous, requires standing for long periods, working off ladders and scaffolds.
  • Work environment may be dusty, dirty, noisy, cramped, hot, wet conditions, confined spaces, ditches and other uncomfortable places.
  • Individuals must be willing to work days/nights/weekends and/or OT if special circumstances and emergencies arise.
  • Work during planned outages as well as unplanned outages which may include working holidays, nights and weekends.
  • Attend job specific training on NFPA-70E, electrical hazards in work place, electrical working clearances, Electrical PPE selection, LOTO, confined space and others. Travel off site may be required.
  • Attend safety training which may require CPR certification, First Aid, and other lifesaving techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Palm Beach County Journeymen License is desirable but not required

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications.
  • Install, examine, replace or repair GRS conduit, EMT conduit, PVC conduit, lighting, electrical wiring, grounding, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, starters, controllers, VFD’s, relays, fuses, coils and other electrical components.
  • Follow strict safety procedures when repairing or installing single phase and three phase power distribution systems related to 120/208/240/277/480 and 4160 voltages.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, rectifiers, relays, capacitors and inductors.
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, battery banks, circuit breakers and other electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot & maintain electrical and electronic control systems, fire alarm, intercom, security and other related devices.
  • Perform necessary repairs quickly and safely to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records as required.
