About The Position

The Electrician 1 reads blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including work locations and the quantities and sizes of required materials. The role identifies necessary tools and safety risks, along with precautions to eliminate those risks. Responsibilities include installing conduit and electrical equipment, testing circuits, observing equipment operation, and repairing defective systems.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in industrial construction or maintenance.
• Ability to fabricate and install rigid and aluminum conduit, E.M.T., plasti-bond, and P.V.C. conduit.
• Ability to use mechanical benders and hydraulic benders from 2 inches to 4 inches, and to fabricate and install conduit supports.
• Ability to install wire and cable by hand, by machine, and in cable trays.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the work scope, locations, and required quantities and sizes of materials.
• Identify the tools required for tasks, safety risks, and precautions needed to eliminate those risks.
• Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using appropriate tools.
• Install and secure control and distribution apparatus, including switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
• Test circuit continuity and component compatibility and safety using testing instruments.
• Observe installed equipment or systems to identify hazards and determine whether adjustments, relocation, or replacement are needed.
• Disassemble and repair defective electrical equipment or systems.
