Electricals Materials Handler (Inventory)

Etched•San Jose, CA
•$60,000 - $90,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Electricals Materials Handler owns the lifecycle and inventory records for electrical components used on Etched modules, from receiving and storage through inspection, kitting, and consumption on the in-house SMT line and at contract manufacturers (CMs). This role is part of the Inventory team and is the source of truth for board electricals, including quantities, locations, condition, and replenishment needs. The role manages Etched-owned consigned material at CM sites, ensuring shipments, consumption, returns, scrap, counts, reconciliations, and variances are traceable. It also ensures board materials are handled appropriately, kits match released BOMs, and Procurement receives accurate on-hand, consumed, and in-transit data. The position splits time between Etched’s San Jose office and its nearby Milpitas SMT line and material storage, with occasional travel to CM sites.

  • At least 2 years handling electronic components in a manufacturing, EMS/CM, or hardware-startup environment.
  • Working knowledge of ESD control (ANSI/ESD S20.20) and moisture-sensitivity handling (IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033).
  • Ability to read a BOM, PCB assembly drawing, and component datasheet, and identify mismatches in delivered parts.
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP or inventory system such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar for receiving, transfers, and cycle counts.
  • Comfort using spreadsheets, including lookups and pivot tables.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers on consigned or customer-furnished material.
  • Ability to stay organized under pressure while supporting frequently changing prototype builds.

  • Exposure to datacenter hardware, including accelerator cards, server base boards, or high-power or high-speed interconnect components.
  • Forklift or pallet-jack certification.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, measure, inspect, and store board electricals, connectors, and boards with full traceability.
  • Handle ESD-sensitive and moisture-sensitive devices using dry cabinets, bake-out, and exposure-time tracking.
  • Maintain records of Etched-owned material at contract manufacturers, including shipments, consumption, returns, and scrap.
  • Conduct cycle counts and periodic reconciliations against CM reports; investigate and close variances.
  • Inspect incoming lots for part marking, quantity, packaging, reel and tray condition, and date codes.
  • Quarantine and disposition non-conforming material and raise supplier issues through Procurement.
  • Maintain first-article and inspection records for each new part number and supplier.
  • Pull and kit components to the released BOM and revision for prototype builds, bring-up boards, in-house SMT runs, and CM production.
  • Identify shortages, substitutions, and revision mismatches before kits ship; pack and document kits for line-side staging and CM handoff, including MSD status and special-handling notes.
  • Publish weekly reports of on-hand, allocated, in-transit, and at-CM quantities by part number.
  • Flag parts approaching reorder points, excess or obsolete stock, and lots nearing MSD or shelf-life limits; provide actual consumption and scrap data to Procurement for forecasting and PO quantities.
  • Write SOPs for receiving, consignment transfers, RMA, and return-to-stock.
  • Contribute to ESD, 5S, and safety programs shared with the SMT line.
