About The Position

Virginia Western Community College is seeking part-time Electrical Wiring Adjunct Faculty to teach Friday evening and Saturday day classes. This is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System. The college is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA, serving a region that includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. Established in 1966, Virginia Western currently serves over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 in workforce and continuing education. The adjunct faculty will teach college-level courses in-person on the main campus, as well as hybrid or distance learning/online courses. Specific courses include Home Electric Power, Practical Electricity I-II, and National Electric Code. Faculty are expected to stay current in their teaching disciplines and in community college education trends, and to be active participants in departmental communication. Applications are reviewed on a continuous basis as needs arise and until positions are filled.

Requirements

  • Ability to teach college-level courses in Electrical Wiring.
  • Ability to teach courses including Home Electric Power, Practical Electricity I-II, and National Electric Code.
  • Ability to teach in-person, hybrid, or online formats.
  • Maintain currency in teaching disciplines and community college education trends.
  • Active participation in departmental communication.
