Electrical VDC Intern (33383)
About The Position
This position performs assignments and works under general supervision of a Professional. Gains exposure to career in area assigned. The intern will download documents, organize drawings/specifications, and set-up project folders. They will assist in the creation of electrical installation drawings and models using Revit software, and learn procedures for building systems and construction methods. Responsibilities include 3D Model BOM Extraction/Verification, analyzing and interpreting detailed drawings and specifications, and collaborating with the team to determine and price value-engineered alternatives. Exposure to Bluebeam and on-screen take-off procedures is provided. The intern will attend coordination meetings to understand conflict resolution, gain submittals exposure, and walk jobs to learn the trade and enhance company performance. The role involves continuous growth through strategic mentoring, training, and development opportunities. Other duties include performing related tasks to ensure efficient and effective project completion.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering, Building Science, Architecture, and/or Construction Management discipline.
- 3.00 GPA or higher.
- Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Highly motivated
- Good people skills
- Ability to learn new software/technology
- Attention to detail with exemplary intra-personal skills and be willing to assist management with a can-do attitude
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Firm believer in safety
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest), as needed.
- Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed.
- Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
- Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
