About The Position

Thomson Power Systems (a Regal Rexnord company) is a leading manufacturer of electrical products and systems for use in the Power Generation Industry for over 50 years. As we are expanding into a new facility near Arlington, TX, we're seeking an exceptional Tester to work closely with our Quality Supervisor and the other leaders to build and grow this new facility. Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the Tester will ensure that projects are completed in a safe and timely manner. Team members must successfully complete employer-provided training during the first 6 weeks of onboarding in Canada; company will assist with travel documentation as needed. Role Summary Electrical Tester: Perform all testing and quality assurance activities across switchboard and electrical panel manufacturing operations. This role ensures products meet electrical design standards and functionality. Engages with a team of testers and inspectors and drives continuous improvement in quality processes. The tester acts as the bridge between production, engineering, and quality management.

Requirements

  • Minimum High school diploma or GED required, technical diploma/certifications in electrical related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of testing experience in electrical assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of 3 phase electrical systems and concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical testing and troubleshooting tools (multimeters, insulation testers, hi-pot testers).
  • Strong knowledge in low/medium voltage switchgear assembly, wiring, and testing including reading complex electric schematics and work instructions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve practical electrical problems on the line with limited standardization or precedent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in communication protocols based on MODBUS and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and enter data into spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily testing and inspection of switchboards and panelboards and related sub-assemblies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards.
  • Review and approve electrical test reports, inspection checklists, and quality documentation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues identified during testing and coordinate corrective actions with production team.
  • Train new team members on testing procedures and protocols, feedback test scripts and inspection standards.
  • Maintain and enforce quality control procedures for testing on finished products
  • Collaborate with engineering to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis for defects detected during testing and participate in corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support internal and external ISO 9001 audits, including UL and customer inspections.
  • Identify gaps in testing processes and propose improvements to reduce defects and rework.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing and quality tools (5S, Kaizen, SPC, FMEA).
  • Ensure all testing activities follow electrical safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Maintain calibration records for testing instruments and equipment.
