About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will as a part of a small, multi-functional team, you’ll help design, build, and commission Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) for our lunar lander program, Blue Moon. You will design data acquisition systems and/or control systems specifically focused for testing space vehicle sub-assemblies. You will contribute to the team's progress by assisting in collecting customer specifications, creating electrical design packages, managing build activities through part procurement and vendor management, and supporting installation and activation of systems. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required! Because of the need for hands-on work, this position requires on-site work at Kent, WA.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical degree
  • 2+ years industry experience with avionics systems testing
  • Experience planning, executing, and reporting electronics testing
  • Ability to produce electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power meters, data acquisition cards, etc)

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in software and/or hardware development, integration, systems engineering, testing experience, and supporting avionics or similarly broad integration
  • Experience with human-rated space vehicle development and verification
  • Ability to quickly analyze issues with low voltage instrumentation and control systems, 4-20 mA signals, thermocouples, resolvers, etc.
  • Experience operating within a production configuration management environment
  • Experience with Zuken, Creo, Windchill, and JAMA

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the requirements, design, architecture, procurement, build, integration, and checkout of the power test systems
  • Support a development environment with open box testing and card to card level testing.
  • Create and release drawings of the test hardware infrastructure, rack layouts, harnesses, breakout boxes/panels, power distribution, and grounding.
  • Identify and procure equipment, and coordinate with technicians for the build, assembly, and installation of equipment and harnesses.
  • Support the integration of flight avionics, hardware, operator consoles, and test equipment to verify the requirements and performance of avionics units under test.
  • Support checkout of the avionics systems and solving technical problems.
  • Maintain configuration control of the drawings and the test system configuration.
  • Support problem investigation and resolution.
