Electrical Test Engineer, EGSE & Instrumentation

E-Space•Arlington, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

E-Space is seeking a hands-on Electrical Test Engineer to own electrical verification and electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) for its integrated antenna assembly. The role involves building and troubleshooting electrical test setups, soldering test hardware, writing test software in LabVIEW or Python, configuring and operating data acquisition (DAQ) systems, and operating spacecraft and instrument surrogates for verification testing. It is an electrical engineering role with substantial bench and test-facility work, with responsibility for the electrical test chain from hardware connections through acquisition, automation, and recorded evidence. During environmental campaigns, the engineer will provide electrical test support and functional verification alongside the mechanical test engineer. The position is based on-site in Arlington, Texas, with some travel between sites expected. The role is full-time and exempt. Occasional extended hours or weekends may be needed during critical periods. E-Space cannot currently provide employment sponsorship to candidates who do not hold work authorization for the role’s location. Compensation is determined by factors including relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical electrical engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting electrical hardware, with personal responsibility for bench setup, execution, and interpretation of results.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and connection documentation, make and inspect soldered connections, and troubleshoot electrical test hardware.
  • Ability to write and debug LabVIEW or Python scripts that interact with real instruments or DAQ hardware; proficiency in at least one is required.
  • Experience configuring and running a DAQ system and checking that the full measurement chain produces credible data.
  • Experience operating EGSE or comparable electrical test equipment used to exercise and verify hardware interfaces.
  • Ability to write clear procedures, investigate anomalies methodically, and document evidence supporting test conclusions.
  • Work authorization for the location of the role; E-Space is not currently able to provide employment sponsorship.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours or weekends during critical periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Spacecraft or instrument EGSE experience, including operation or development of spacecraft and instrument surrogates.
  • Electrical verification experience with flight or other high-reliability hardware.
  • Electrical functional testing and instrumentation experience during thermal-vacuum, vibration, or other environmental campaigns.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, Python, or other data acquisition software, and maintaining test automation that other engineers or technicians can run.
  • Experience integrating instrumentation and DAQ into larger assembly-level test setups.
  • Direct experience in LEO satellite component development, design, and in-orbit activities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute the antenna assembly’s electrical verification campaign, from requirements and test procedures through anomaly investigation and verification closure.
  • Set up, check out, operate, and troubleshoot EGSE, including spacecraft and instrument surrogates used to exercise the antenna assembly’s electrical interfaces.
  • Build, modify, and repair electrical test hardware, including soldering and test connections, following applicable workmanship and hardware-handling procedures.
  • Write, maintain, and debug scripts for instrument control, test sequencing, data acquisition, and data reduction.
  • Configure and operate DAQ systems, and verify the measurement chain and recorded data before using them to make hardware decisions.
  • Develop repeatable test procedures and record hardware, EGSE, software, and acquisition configurations so results can be interpreted and reproduced.
  • Monitor electrical behavior during tests, respond to anomalies according to procedures, and distinguish test-equipment or script problems from test-article problems.
  • Support electrical functional checks and monitoring during environmental test campaigns, coordinating with the mechanical test engineer and facility team.
  • Document results, limitations, and anomaly dispositions, and maintain electrical verification closure records in the verification matrix.
