About The Position

The L3 position is an intermediate level position for candidates who are experienced in the nuclear sector. Functionally reporting to the Manager of Retube Tooling, the Electrical Technologist would support one of the various Refurbishment or New build projects on the Retube Tooling team. The role of the employee will be to immediately integrate into a project of varying complexity and work productively in the nuclear industry.

Requirements

  • Technologist Diploma in the field of instrumentation & controls, certificate of qualification from College of Trades and Apprenticeship or relevant technical experience.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Hands-on experience with cable assembly, panel wiring.
  • Strong experience troubleshooting electrical faults, signal issues, wiring errors, and equipment interface problems.
  • Must be able to use electrical test equipment such as megger, multimeter, amp meter and other instruments as required.
  • Proven initiative and motivation with safety in mind.
  • Must be effective in a multi-discipline team environment.
  • Results oriented, takes ownership of tasks assigned.
  • Must be able to work to tight deadlines and financial controls.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Siemens drive and PLCs and other typical control system hardware is an asset.
  • Experience in programming PLC software Siemens Step 7 or developing software for other platforms such as NI LabView is an asset.
  • Field experience in an industrial plant is an asset.
  • Forklift and crane experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic testing of Siemens drives and PLCs.
  • Perform automated and robotic tooling refurbishments and function testing.
  • Perform assembly and maintenance of machine control systems for automated and robotic tooling and other testing apparatus.
  • Perform assembly of electrical control panels and cable assemblies.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as required for all automated and robotic tooling.
  • Configure mock-ups to test automated and robotic tooling.
  • Setup test apparatus, perform routine testing or evaluations, and prepare test reports.
  • Support vendor testing, site commissioning, and equipment integration activities.
  • Set up and commissioning of automated and robotic tooling.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting and fault‑finding skills with the ability to diagnose issues, determine root cause, and support corrective actions.
  • Mark up drawings and documents as required to reflect actual as-built condition of assembled products.
  • Occasionally work with equipment containing high voltages.
  • Occasionally work in radiation areas with appropriate safeguards.
  • Travel to vendor facilities and project sites (domestic/international travel) if required. Duration of assignments can vary.
