About The Position

We are looking for Electricians at our Beaumont, Texas Refinery. An Electrician must be able demonstrate an ability to safely install all components of instrument control and electrical systems. An Electrician must safely troubleshoot, analyze and repair components of these systems. These systems components include but are not limited to: motors, transformers, switchgear, lighting, relays, Programmable Logic Controllers, battery systems and chargers, distribution wiring and piping, instrumentation, control valves, DCS Systems, controllers, UPS Systems, and similar equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 to 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Journeyman Electrician’s License, OSHA Certified to work on high voltage
  • Associate of Science in Instrumentation or Electrical
  • Knowledge of electrical systems including planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits.
  • Identifying and mitigating job or safety hazards
  • Safely isolating electrical equipment, defects in wiring, switches, motors, motor control centers, breakers, and transformers through Lock Out, Tag Out.
  • Safely installing and maintaining motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers.
  • Safely using hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Safely operating electronic and electrical test instruments.
  • Installing grounding leads.
  • Reading commercial and industrial electrical blueprints and applying NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.
  • Properly installing and maintaining motors, motor operated valves, welding equipment, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers.
  • Safely using tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot, repair, replace and test electrical circuits and equipment.
  • Accurately diagnosing and repairing electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, motor operated valves and programmable logic controllers.

Responsibilities

  • Receive daily schedule and work permits to determine activities to be performed.
  • Dismantle/Troubleshoot electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts.
  • Install and maintain various types of motors, motor control systems, motor operated valves, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers and transformers.
  • Install and monitor performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacements.
  • Install ground leads.
  • Interpret blueprints, Electrical One-line drawings, Electrical Schematics and perform work by these or verbal instructions.
  • Lay out, assemble, install, test, repair, and adjust electrical fixtures, apparatuses, equipment, wiring, and new services to include panels, breakers, and conduit.
  • Mount motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and complete circuits according to diagram specifications.
  • Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electric controls, motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on High Voltage Substations, High Voltage Transformers, Breakers, and distribution panels.
  • Install and inspect various types of conduit installations.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Receive training in new or changes in codes, procedures, and processes relating to the industrial electrical field.
