Electrical Technician

About The Position

As an Electrical Technician at United Rentals, you will perform maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks, along with minor equipment repairs, safely and professionally. You will help ensure rental equipment is ready for use, assist customers with equipment, and support higher-level technicians and other Service Department operations. The role offers opportunities to develop toward higher-level Technician positions.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 45 lbs.
Basic verbal and written skills.
Basic electrical aptitude.
Must own tools applicable to the position and have a working knowledge of tools.
Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
Ability to understand the rental cycle.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance checks on rental equipment before and after use, including checks for damage, operational condition, ohm and amp readings, safety decals, and safety compliance.
Report equipment condition to the counter person or Service Manager for appropriate customer billing.
Load and unload equipment while complying with DOT regulations for height, width, and weight.
Clean equipment and prepare it for new rental contracts or sale.
Check equipment, demonstrate its proper use, and familiarize customers with each piece of equipment.
Perform minor repairs on rental equipment and tools safely, including contactor and relay cleaning and small component replacement, and tag equipment as rental ready.
Assist higher-level technicians as needed.
Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and other United Rentals locations for purchases or repairs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
