Electrical Technician

DroydSan Francisco, CA
Onsite

About The Position

Droyd builds autonomous robotic systems that automate repetitive manual work in production environments. Because our hardware team moves quickly, reliable electrical systems are core to how we build, test, and deploy. The electrical work at Droyd supports both R&D and production. The work ranges from one-off cable assemblies and test harnesses to repeatable electrical builds that keep robot hardware moving. As a Wiring Technician at Droyd, you'll build, route, label, and maintain wiring and harnesses for robot systems and test infrastructure. Reporting to the Prototype Team Lead, you will support the assembly and validation of electromechanical hardware by making sure power and signal connections are clean, organized, and reliable. This is a highly technical, hands-on role for someone who likes careful work, takes pride in build quality, and has the skills to perform PCBA rework and troubleshoot complex electrical issues. This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We're an in-person company. We build faster that way.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with wiring, harnessing, and electrical assembly.
  • Skilled in soldering, desoldering, and reworking SMT PCBs of current technology sizes.
  • Strong ability to read/interpret PCBA schematics, cable drawings, and test procedures independently.
  • Proven ability to build harnesses independently.
  • General low-voltage electrical knowledge (0-24V).
  • Can troubleshoot electrical issues methodically and communicates clearly with technicians and engineers.
  • Can do careful, detail-oriented work with a high standard of consistency.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced hardware environment with changing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a high-precision industry (robotics, aerospace, medical device, automotive) or a hardware startup.
  • Holds an IPC-620 certification or knows IPC-7711/7722 standards.
  • Experience with basic CAD software for viewing drawings.
  • Brings knowledge of board-level communication standards to assist with deeper engineering debug.
  • Experience documenting data (inspection results, build logs, nonconformances) within an MES, PLM, or ERP system to keep builds repeatable.

Responsibilities

  • Build wire harnesses and cable assemblies for robot systems and test setups.
  • Cut, strip, crimp, label, route, and terminate wiring to defined standards.
  • Interpret schematics, diagrams, and layouts to perform testing, checkout, troubleshooting, and rework of PCBAs and harnesses.
  • Perform PCBA/cable rework to IPC standards.
  • Support electrical integration during assembly, test, and debug activities.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and support rework, repair, and root cause efforts.
  • Maintain clear and serviceable cable routing across prototypes and test hardware.
  • Organize electrical components, connectors, tools, and consumables.
  • Regularly step in to execute assembly work for small manufacturing runs, assist with facility setup tasks, and maintain lab organization to ensure the team remains agile and supported.
