About The Position

The Electrical Technician will be responsible for performing electrical installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on various systems including low voltage control circuits up to 480V, MCC’s, MDPs, emergency generators, transfer switches, transformers, VFDs, and PLCs. This role involves developing parts lists, submitting orders, establishing timelines, and directing support staff for project execution. The technician will ensure compliance with safety codes, NEC, and local regulations, and will collaborate with other team members on projects. The position requires the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics, and to use various tools efficiently. Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area, keeping accurate records, and participating in the site’s Electrical Safety Team are also key aspects of the role. The technician will also respond to electrical emergencies outside normal working hours and adhere to GMP documentation and cleanroom work requirements. Coordination with the Planner/Scheduler for timely and budget-compliant completion of work orders and projects, and executing sitewide power shutdowns are expected. Monitoring electrical system performance and recommending improvements, as well as assisting with mechanical, general carpentry, or other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal electrical apprentice or military program, or a 2- or 4-year electrical technical degree
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical work in an industrial and/or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, local codes, and safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Must be trained and practice safe work procedures and demonstrate knowledge of NFPA70E, Lock Out/Tag Out Systems.
  • Proven knowledge and working experience with building electrical utility generation and distributions systems, MCCs/ MDPs, emergency generators, transfer switches, transformers, VFDs, infrared scanning.
  • Valid driver's license to travel between sites.
  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an electrician role and directing personnel activities
