About The Position

Great Lakes Energy is looking for an Electrical Technician I to support our electrical distribution system through metering, communications, automation, and power quality initiatives. Requirements

Associate degree and at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of electrical systems.
Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications.
Valid Michigan driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with metering, communications, or fiber systems.
Comfortable learning new technologies.

Responsibilities

Installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining metering equipment, communications systems, and distribution automation technologies.
Assisting with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems, metering endpoints, fiber-connected communications equipment, and SCADA and distribution automation devices.
Supporting the installation, programming, and maintenance of equipment such as reclosers, regulators, capacitors, and protective devices.
Investigating power quality concerns, analyzing data, and troubleshooting technical issues.
Collaborating with Engineering, Operations, contractors, and line crews to complete projects and resolve service challenges.
Certifying distributed energy systems such as solar and wind installations.
Assisting with power theft investigations.
Supporting members by addressing high-bill concerns and sharing energy-saving recommendations.
Maintaining equipment records and managing inventory.
Refurbishing metering equipment and supporting ongoing technology upgrades.
Supporting field operations and helping restore power safely and efficiently during storm restoration events.
