About The Position

The Electrical/Electronic Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production and facility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on packaging and processing equipment, electrical systems, PLC controls, and related machinery while supporting production goals, food safety standards, and company policies. The technician will work closely with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel to minimize downtime, maximize equipment reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably with form-fill-seal packaging equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of: PLC troubleshooting and diagnostics, Electrical systems, Electronic controls, Motors and motor controls, Pneumatic systems, Hydraulic systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Industrial sensors and controls.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must successfully complete all required safety training.
  • Maintain and repair production equipment to support continuous operations.
  • Walk, stand, and maneuver around machinery throughout the workday.
  • Climb ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms as required.
  • Lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 65 pounds.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and squat.
  • Work in confined or restricted spaces when necessary.
  • Work safely around moving machinery and energized electrical equipment.
  • Work on wet or slippery floors while maintaining safe work practices.
  • Work in hot, cold, humid, noisy, wet, and odorous environments.
  • Effectively communicate with coworkers while working in high-noise environments.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing protection in designated production areas.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required.
  • Work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with additional overtime as needed.

  • Technical degree or certificate in Electrical, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, start up, shut down, drain, and maintain packaging equipment according to the production schedule.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic equipment to minimize production downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled equipment and electrical control systems.
  • Ensure packaging machines operate at or above established production standards.
  • Monitor equipment performance and promptly report issues requiring additional support or resources.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance according to established schedules.
  • Complete assigned maintenance work orders during non-breakdown periods.
  • Conduct routine machine inspections and document maintenance activities.
  • Assist with the installation, startup, testing, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production personnel to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Train and assist maintenance mechanics and machine operators in the proper operation and care of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, food safety requirements, GMPs, SQF, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
