About The Position

Ford Racing is seeking an Electrical Systems Integration Engineer to join the Road Car Team. This role is responsible for the design and development of Ford Performance specific electrical content, coordinating technical design reviews, and ensuring system integrity. The engineer will survey components with electrical interfaces, populate device transmittals into VSEM for EDS wiring development, and build DV Requirements for system-level electrical functions. They will perform validation testing, support BOM sign-offs for pre-production builds, and represent the electrical team on evaluation drives. The position involves troubleshooting and fixing electrical issues, supporting offsite vehicle-level DV testing, and configuring/updating electrical modules and systems for breadboard activities. On-site support for vehicle builds at the assembly plant is also required. The engineer will lead Full Service Suppliers (FSS) and/or other internal/external resources, develop system designs that support vehicle performance targets, and ensure conformance to Ford Racing DNA and all applicable Ford & regulatory requirements. The role also involves developing innovative solutions for performance vehicles, supporting supplier sourcing processes and FMA activities, and handling deliverables for program & engineering GPDS breakthroughs. Key tools and systems include FEDE BOM / WERS / Bill of Material / AIMS / JIRA / 5/8Ds / FEDE DVP / QUIP / Engineering Sign Off / QUIP / eCATs / IVS.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent); Master degree preferred
  • 5+ years experience in automotive electrical systems
  • Understanding of GPDS deliverables and basic Ford engineering tools (FEDE BOM / WERS / Bill of Material / AIMS / JIRA / 5/8Ds / FEDE DVP / Engineering Sign Off / DFMEA / Six Sigma
  • Experience launching new vehicles
  • Ability to handle complex tasks and complicated situations under compressed timing
  • Outstanding planning, organizational and project management skills with accurate follow-up to accomplish multiple objectives
  • Strong One Ford Leadership Behaviors with proven ability to drive and deliver results
  • Effective written and oral presentation skills
  • Ability to build strong effective relationships with multi-functional teams (Program, Studio, Purchasing, Core Body Engineering, VE, VI, VO)
  • Experience with CAN tools, Module Software flashing, CAN network troubleshooting, Bus Queries, CAN log and data collection, Diagnostic Engineering Tool, MyCanic, Data Logger, Vehicle configuration (VSCS)

Nice To Haves

  • Passion for performance vehicles is desirable
  • Hands-on experience with CAN bus tools (CAN loggers, bus analyzers, diagnostic tools like CANoe/CANalyzer or equivalent) beyond basic troubleshooting, able to independently debug intermittent network faults
  • Prior experience with VSEM or similar electrical device transmittal/vehicle systems engineering management tools
  • Background in high-performance or motorsport vehicle programs (racing, tuning, or aftermarket performance electronics)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design and development of Ford Performance specific electrical content
  • Coordinate technical design reviews between component and EDS engineers to ensure system integrity in the design phase
  • Responsible for surveying Engineers for components that have electrical interfaces and ensure those device transmittals are populated into VSEM to support EDS wiring development
  • Build DV Requirements for system level electrical functions and perform validation testing to ensure product compliance
  • Support BOM sign offs for pre-production build events
  • Represent the electrical team on evaluation drives
  • Root cause and fix electrical issues on vehicles as they arise
  • Support offsite vehicle level DV testing
  • Support breadboard activities by configuring, updating, and root causing electrical modules and systems
  • Onsight support for vehicle builds at the assembly plant, representing the Electrical team
  • Lead FSS (Full Service Suppliers) and/or other internal/external resources to deliver subject programs
  • Lead development of system designs that support vehicle performance targets
  • Assure conformance to the Ford Racing DNA all applicable Ford & regulatory requirements
