About The Position

The Electrical Systems Engineer - Operations is responsible for leading the functional engineering team on battery electrical systems architecture from a systems perspective. This position will apply an interdisciplinary approach to the engineering of battery systems and components, what is required of their design, and manage their realization. They will define and document overall electrical architecture at the system level and oversee verification of the electrical sub-system. This also includes defining electrical system requirements early in the development cycle, identifying top technical risks, and championing the design synthesis and concept verification in the context of the complete battery system. This position will work closely with the engineering design team, prototype engineering team, manufacturing teams, key suppliers, validation/testing team, customers, program managers, and business development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor – Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field of study.
  • Five (5) years in the position above, as a Electrical Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Senior Engineer, or in a related electrical engineering role.
  • DFMEA, PFMEA, DFM/DFA and DVP&R
  • Automotive electrical architectures, wiring diagrams, CANoe and CANalyzer
  • High Voltage Lithium-ion battery systems
  • Data processing and statistical analysis.
  • Will accept equivalent foreign degree.
  • Will accept a graduate degree in above major fields of study and two (2) years of full-time relevant work experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years; will also accept any fully equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading the functional engineering team on battery electrical systems architecture from a system-level perspective.
  • Apply an interdisciplinary approach to the engineering of battery systems and components, including defining design requirements and managing their realization.
  • Define and document the overall system-level electrical architecture and oversee verification of the electrical subsystem.
  • Define electrical system requirements early in the development cycle, identify top technical risks, and champion design synthesis and concept verification within the context of the complete battery system.
  • Work as the technical lead between customers and design engineers on electrical systems and collaborate closely with engineering design, prototype engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, validation and testing, customers, program management, and business development teams.
  • Develop external interface specifications for all electrical interfaces to the vehicle, as well as system electrical architecture, system schematics, and internal interfaces. Lead electrical system integration meetings and collaborate crossfunctionally with other teams.
  • Ensure electrical components selected by design engineering meet system requirements.
  • Represent electrical system functions in the system DFMEA and track top risks and known electrical issues.
  • Develop electrical system verification test plans and review design validation plans.
  • Support project-level electrical system activities in coordination with systems engineering.
  • Perform system integration and verification for electrical system development.
  • Support all prototype, DV, PV, and production builds.
  • Develop system inspection requirements for end-of-line testing and support quality engineering.
  • Support hardware engineering analysis, controls development, and WCCA activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues and support related tasks with mechanical, electrical, software, and BMS engineering groups.
  • Serve as the electrical systems subject matter expert at the manufacturing plant.
  • Communicate activities and status to the broader team.
