About The Position

The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the daily activities of electrical maintenance personnel supporting underground mining, surface mining, mineral processing, and production operations. This role provides direct supervision of electricians, instrumentation technicians, and electrical contractors while ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment throughout the facility. The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for workforce leadership, maintenance planning, equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives that support operational excellence and production goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 7 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, instrumentation, PLCs, motor controls, and reliability practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent electrical trade qualification preferred.
  • Mining, mineral processing, cement, chemical processing, manufacturing, utilities, or oil & gas industry experience.
  • MSHA training and mining experience strongly preferred.
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Siemens PLCs, SAP PM, Maximo, and predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Working knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and lead a team of Industrial Electricians, Instrumentation Technicians, and electrical contractors.
  • Assign daily work activities and establish maintenance priorities based on operational needs.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management for electrical maintenance personnel.
  • Conduct employee evaluations, development planning, and skills assessments.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure timely response to electrical breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations.
  • Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Monitor work quality and ensure adherence to established maintenance standards.
  • Provide supervision and technical support for medium and high-voltage electrical systems, substations and switchgear, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), transformers, VFDs and soft starters, PLC and SCADA systems, instrumentation and process controls, conveyors and material handling systems, crushers and processing equipment, pumps, ventilation systems, and hoists, and mobile mining equipment.
  • Partner with Maintenance Planners and Operations teams to develop weekly and shutdown maintenance schedules.
  • Review work orders, labor utilization, and maintenance backlog activities.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and resource allocation to support operational requirements.
  • Assist in developing maintenance budgets and forecasting labor and material needs.
  • Support reliability initiatives designed to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations.
  • Monitor equipment performance metrics and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency, productivity, and equipment life cycles.
  • Ensure compliance with MSHA regulations, NFPA standards, National Electrical Code (NEC), and Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices and electrical safety standards.
  • Conduct safety meetings, field inspections, and job hazard assessments.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
