About The Position

Perform electrical maintenance tasks on plant utility and process infrastructure. Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, electrical components, and electronic components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications. Work with limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused on complex and/or new assignments. Act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from trade school or technical school in related discipline or equivalent apprenticeship.
  • 2 to 4 years of electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and automation system maintenance experience.
  • Must successfully pass Master License for the state of New Mexico within 6 months of hire date.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, practices, and techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Considerable knowledge of and ability to use standard hand and power tools and equipment used in electrical maintenance activities.
  • Ability to use ladders, scaffolding, and operate hand and power tools in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Considerable knowledge and application of safety standards and precautions pertaining to electrical work.
  • Ability to work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Able to perform electrical activities/repairs independently and assist on more complicated repairs.
  • Able to complete minor to mid-sized projects from planning to installation.
  • Able to perform task and duties without constant supervision.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Nice To Haves

  • Master electrician preferred.
  • Electrician journeyman license or other location specific electrician license.

Responsibilities

  • Programs, troubleshoots, and operates programmable controllers, distributive control systems and interlocking systems.
  • Installs equipment for new electrical services (120v, 240v, and 480v three phase), including wiring, conduit, panels, breakers, contactors, relays, times and controls.
  • Performs electrical troubleshooting, maintenance and repair work; installs or replaces circuit breakers, fuses, variable speed drives (VFDs), contactors, overload devices, fixtures, switches, receptacles, and wiring.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, distribution systems, motor control centers, and motors.
  • Performs and assists in all operations maintenance activities, in accordance with National, State and Local Electrical Codes.
  • Sets an effective pace and minimizes interruptions to the process.
  • Participates in safety programs and safety training and demonstrates total commitment and compliance with all Company Safety and Sanitation policies.
  • Uses the Company's computerized maintenance management system (e.g., SAP) to record and access maintenance related information.
  • Performs work on site automation system to the component level, including components that require 0-10 volt signal or 4-20 milliamp signal repair.
  • Wears PPE at all times and observes health, safety and environmental policies.
  • Attends departmental training, such as safety and equipment training.
  • Is on call and works long hours, if necessary, in case of serious network malfunction.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
