This role is ideal for a smart, sharp, and driven engineer with a strong grasp of concept-level design, schematics, and construction drawings. The ideal candidate will be proficient in AutoCAD and Revit, with experience in electrical power systems design for mission-critical environments. As a subject matter expert, you will have a direct impact on the design of prototypical Data Center sites, provide technical design guidance and vendor oversight, solve large-scale implementation issues, and build a strong understanding of site design and program requirements. The successful candidate will develop and implement design strategies to expand the firm’s expertise, footprint and profitability in Critical Facilities and Digital Infrastructure. Our client is looking for a Electrical Solutions Engineer that has expertise in Electrical Power Systems Engineering and design for data center and infrastructure development efforts, specifically for large data centers. This challenging and unique role will involve the initial design specifications and prototype of critical power systems for new data centers and expansions to existing data centers. The ideal candidate will have experience and in-depth knowledge of Electrical Power Systems / Electrical Power Distribution System design and installation. Previous experience with electrical equipment design to include Generators, UPS systems and electrical switchgear is a must. The Electrical Solutions Engineer is a critical role focused on ensuring the successful planning, design, and implementation of critical infrastructure for data center construction projects. This individual will possess experience with security protocols, compliance standards, and construction processes, to provide guidance and oversight throughout the project lifecycle. The Electrical Solutions Engineer will play a pivotal role in reviewing project plans, assessing means and methods for construction, participating in the procurement and bid process for resources and equipment, and providing critical coaching and mentorship to project teams. This role involves overseeing the technical aspect of multiple projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery while maintaining safety and quality standards You will help lead the electrical oversight of design / build team and work / communicate with all trades and stakeholders involved in projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering a MUST
• Professional Engineer or on tract for a PE ( current FE or EIT) a big plus!
• 5+ years’ experience in electrical power systems design for Data Centers or Mission Critical Facilities.
• Previous experience working at an Engineering Consulting firm, A/E, MEP or Construction / GC firm a MUST
• Experience with hyperscale / colo / enterprise / complex data center design / mission critical facilities design projects a must
• Previous experience using: Revit MEP projects, AutoCAD MEP, BIM a plus
• Extensive Experience with Electrical Power Systems and Equipment - UPS / Uninterruptible Power Supply , Generators , Batteries , switchgear , Power Distribution Units , Backup Power , Electrical Power , Power Systems , Medium Voltage , High Voltage, etc.
• Knowledge of codes and specifications for the design of electrical systems including National Electric Code, Life Safety and Energy Conservation Codes
• Experience with creating concept-level design, reviewing drawings, and schematics
• Experience performing field observations during construction
• Understand and apply building codes, permitting, local regulations, and standards
• Knowledge of mission critical equipment and systems, design process, pre-construction requirements and the construction process
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate the design and constructability of site design by third-party consultants
• Ability to effectively communicate complex project details and market information and analysis at all organizational levels to include senior leadership, utility partners, and local stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with internal staff, external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders
• Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Self Starter, self motivated, Strong problem-solving skills and should prioritize well and have the ability to successfully work independently and within a team
• Active participant in local data center organizations (7x24, AFCOM, DCD, Uptime Institute, DICE Bisnow, etc.)

Nice To Haves

• Site asset acquisition experience a plus; someone that can assist with determining the viability of converting an existing building / brownfield into a Data Center
• Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus! (Navy nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Manage projects, create designs and plans, provided and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary electrical engineering design role for all sizes of data center facility design projects- enterprise data centers, Colocation Providers and for Hyperscale Companies.
• Create Conceptual Designs gathered from meetings with the client
• Create Prototypes that will create the schematics that will be basis for RFPs / RFIs
• Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policies
• Represent the company in project meetings
• Collaborate with all design staff and oversee full cycle electrical design activities
• Interact closely with the Project Management Team to produce construction documents, develop and edit project specifications and lead the construction administration process
• Execute and lead design teams and design projects of complex scope
• Perform intermediate to advanced electrical design tasks including development of electrical distribution systems and topologies, infrastructure and equipment layouts and selection / sizing of equipment
• Utilize AutoCAD and Revit software to prepare drawings
• Review and / or prepare book or sheet specifications for electrical power systems
• Develop and / or review sequences of operations
• Proposal development including project scope, schedule and budget
• Effective management of project design team including resource forecasting and coordination
• Identify potential project scope changes and aid in development of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines
• Support contact for design clients and builds effective, long-term client relationships
• Survey existing building conditions / Conduct Field Observations and prepares technical reports of findings and commissioning support
• Represent the Operations team in startup, testing, factory witness testing, commissioning, and turnover.
• Prepare project design and construction documents
• Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
