Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • At least 7 years of relevant field experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical safety standards including NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA, particularly NFPA 70E
  • Experience with electrical engineering/technology in various applications such as low voltage AC and DC systems
  • Significant experience with personal computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated expert communication and organizational skills for presenting complex technical information
  • Ability to pass Radiological Worker II training
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance
  • Successful candidates will be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing required

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact on electrical safety and administer the LANL Electrical Safety Program
  • Act as a resource for LANL employees and managers regarding electrical safety concerns
  • Conduct incident investigations and determine root causes, developing corrective actions as necessary
  • Perform workplace condition inspections to identify electrical hazards in various environments
  • Lead reviews of Integrated Work Documents (IWD) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Contribute to the development of codes, standards, and specifications for electrical equipment safety
  • Provide advanced support to engineers/scientists in solving complex technical problems
  • Participate in the evaluation of controlled items and services for compliance with electrical safety requirements
  • Perform calculations to determine electrical severity scores for incidents
  • Develop written electrical safety policies, procedures, and design standards
