Electrical Quality Supervisor
About The Position
The Electrical Quality Supervisor role at PCL Industrial Services, Inc. is responsible for ensuring that quality activities align with project scope as per contract terms and conditions. This involves reviewing prime contract and subcontract details, performing visual examinations, and witnessing, monitoring, and documenting quality and inspection testing plans (ITPs). The supervisor acts as a liaison between craft/staff personnel and the quality manager, providing technical assistance and guidance. They are tasked with identifying root causes of nonconformances, reporting them to the project team and quality manager, and verifying trade partners' compliance with their quality programs and contract documents. The role also includes implementing the project quality plan, ITPs, and project specifications, reporting compliance, and managing ASME Code work. Active participation in planning and coordinating quality assurance/quality coordinator (QA/QC) activities with construction activities, performing audits, and managing remediation of noncompliance items are key responsibilities. The supervisor is expected to stay current with industry practices and technologies, collaborate with field management to protect finished work, and review and approve trade quality plans and first installation reviews.
Requirements
- Tradesperson or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
- Regulatory and compliance certifications are required based on the field of discipline (e.g., Electrical SCO, Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) level II or III certification, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Level 1, API (American Petroleum Institute) 510/570/653 inspector).
- Proven knowledge of the construction industry and understanding of specifications, drawings, methods, and procedures.
- Strong construction inspection skills on a broad range of scopes of work.
- Basic knowledge of various engineering systems, principles, and practices.
- Basic understanding of and ability to interpret construction industry codes.
- Ability to monitor project progress to ensure timely inspections.
- Basic ability to identify quality risks associated with the project.
- Basic ability to interpret plans and specifications, visualizing two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
- Experience with internal project quality assessments.
- Basic planning, organization, and time-management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize own work, and delegate.
- Basic ability to develop and maintain effective customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
- Basic conflict resolution and difficult conversation skills, with the ability to manage and effectively resolve conflict with trade contractors/supervisors.
- Strong computer skills with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other software as required.

- Performs audits to ensure adherence to project quality plan/manual and contract document requirements. Reports noncompliance items and manages remediation.
- Stays current with industry practices and technologies and seeks new and innovative construction methods and processes.
- Collaborates with field management to ensure the protection of finished work.
- Reviews and approves trade quality plans prior to work commencing.
- Collaborates with field management to ensure first installation reviews are completed, documented, and communicated.
