About The Position

This position is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects in Illinois. The role involves performing accurate project revenue and cost financial forecasting, leading estimating efforts, and supporting growth initiatives for the Electrical Area. The Project Manager will coordinate with field operations, project controls, and the construction team to manage resources, meet schedules, and ensure profitability. They will provide technical direction for material controls, oversee change management, and develop comprehensive project start-up plans. A key aspect of the role is fostering dynamic project communication to ensure efficient, profitable, and safe work execution, while maintaining proper job controls for quantities, costs, revenue, and schedule. Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, and corporate management is crucial for customer service and long-term partnerships. The role also requires ensuring accurate construction reports for continuous improvement and running projects at profitability levels that meet or exceed expected margins. Compliance with corporate safety initiatives is mandatory.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related technical training or equivalent work experience in electrical construction.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years project experience in electrical construction environments.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction in Chicago area.
  • Knowledge and understanding of union agreements and prevailing wage issues.
  • Maintain ability to work in high production environment.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Excellent supervisory communication and organizational skills.
  • Accuracy at all times.
  • Ability to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate project revenue and cost financial forecasting to ensure corporate profitability goals are met.
  • Lead estimating efforts and support growth initiatives for the Electrical Area.
  • Coordinate with the field operations team and project controls group to establish budget.
  • Coordinate efforts with superintendent and field construction team to manage resources to meet project schedule.
  • Provide technical direction regarding project material controls including delivery dates, construction schedules and design requirements to ensure additional costs are minimized.
  • Oversee change management and estimates to meet changing job requirements and scope.
  • Coordinate with project team to develop a comprehensive plan for project start up and successful kick-off.
  • Provide environment where dynamic project communication occurs between all project team members to ensure work is accomplished in an efficient, profitable, and safe manner.
  • Ensure proper job controls, i.e. quantities, costs, revenue and schedule.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, inspectors, etc., providing customer service to develop long-term partnerships with client base.
  • Ensure accurate construction reports for the job allowing for continuous improvement in performance.
  • Run projects at profitability levels to meet or exceed expected margins.
  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
