IMEG, a large design consulting firm, is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer for their Sacramento, CA office. This role involves performing calculations, system design, equipment selections, creating reports, managing progress submittals, providing BIM instructions, and writing specifications to ensure project completeness, accuracy, and adherence to budget and timeline. The engineer will exercise discretion and judgment in their duties, acting as a lead engineer capable of complete electrical systems design according to code. Requirements

  • Competency of the technical aspects of one’s discipline.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for managing projects.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
  • Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of qualifying experience.
  • Professional Engineering license.
  • Routine local travel with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations, system design, equipment selections, reports, progress submittals, BIM instructions, and specifications required to assure project completeness and accuracy within the allocated period and monetary budget.
  • Act as a lead engineer on projects and perform complete electrical systems design according to code.
  • Specify equipment based on project needs and available technologies, researching commercially available options.
  • Calculate costs and time schedules for proposed work.
  • Review all files to determine scope and personnel involved.
  • Maintain good client relations, project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files.
  • Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and instructions from client promptly while monitoring project design progress as related to fee expended.
  • Review all project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
  • Prepare and issue addendum information.
  • Recognize potential project problems quickly and seek advice from the Project Manager.
  • Review design methods, procedures, changes in scope, and client correspondence with the Project Manager.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement.
  • Mentor designers and/or technicians.
