About The Position

MWH is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to support the electrical scope of work on a critical wastewater treatment plant project in San Francisco, CA. The selected individual will provide technical support to project management and project supervision staff to ensure electrical construction work is performed efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company policy and engineering standards. This role involves assisting with electrical subcontractor procurement and management, electrical package development, construction layout, equipment procurement, submittal review, manpower scheduling, quantity takeoffs, labor productivity tracking, document controls, and project controls. The position also requires performing ongoing quality inspections of electrical installations, verifying compliance with permits, codes (NEC), drawings, and specifications. Preparation and management of documentation records such as electrical equipment submittals, status reports, redlines/as-builts, and material requirement calculations are key responsibilities. The role includes generating drawings and sketches, preparing and facilitating electrical work method statements, investigating and resolving electrical design interpretation issues, and initiating and tracking RFIs. Accurate layout and verification of control lines, elevations, and conduit routing are essential. The Electrical Project Engineer will support and implement project office procedures for electrical documentation, contracts, correspondence, and technical records, and maintain project management systems for tracking electrical progress, submittals, RFIs, and pay applications. Attendance and documentation of electrical scope progress in project meetings, generation of weekly/monthly reports, and support for electrical schedule updates are also part of the role. Additionally, the position assists with electrical claims analysis, change order preparation, record management, and supports estimating with electrical quantity takeoffs, vendor coordination, and bid package development. Ensuring personal and team compliance with safety guidelines and policies on all electrical work, assisting in resolving field electrical issues, and performing additional duties as directed by supervisors are also required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management with electrical emphasis, or related field; equivalent combination of experience, skills, and training may be considered.
  • 3+ years of electrical construction experience at the jobsite level, preferably on large-scale infrastructure or heavy civil projects.
  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical systems, components, and installation practices.
  • Experience on large heavy civil construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment techniques, drawings, and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to discipline.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and work within a larger team environment.
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with others.
  • Familiarity with Project Management data base systems such as Primavera Contract Manager, Expedition, SharePoint, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve electrical design interpretation issues, conflicts, and interferences.
  • Initiate and track RFIs to resolution.
  • Layout and verify control lines, elevations, and conduit routing for precise installation of electrical systems and components.
  • Support and implement project office procedures for electrical documentation, contracts, correspondence, and technical records.
  • Maintain project management systems for accurate tracking of electrical progress, submittits, RFIs, and pay applications.
  • Attend and document electrical scope progress in project meetings.
