As an Electrical Project Engineer at Black & Veatch, you will play a crucial role in substation projects, potentially functioning as a Technical Specialist or Project Lead. You will provide project coordination, guidance, and expertise on assigned substation projects, supporting a variety of projects up to 765kV within engineering detailed design and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC). Your responsibilities will include developing protection and control design deliverables such as protective relays, panel arrangements, one-line/single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and relay panel wiring. You will also develop physical design deliverables including yard layout plans, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems. The role involves performing or overseeing quality reviews of electrical substation design packages, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members, and preparing electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM). You will communicate and coordinate project activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, present proposals and designs, and potentially travel for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification. Additionally, you will prepare and manage design budgets and schedules, and support business development activities.
