About The Position

As an Electrical Project Engineering Intern, you'll work directly with an Electrical Project Manager and gain hands-on experience supporting active industrial electrical construction projects. Throughout the summer, you'll be assigned an electrical work package and learn how a project moves from planning and procurement through execution and closeout. This internship provides real-world exposure to project management, procurement, scheduling, budgeting, quality control, and construction coordination while working alongside experienced industry professionals.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student.
  • Strong interest in construction project management and industrial electrical construction.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with an Electrical Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical construction projects.
  • Assist with developing and managing electrical work packages from planning through project closeout.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work to gain an understanding of project requirements.
  • Perform material takeoffs and assist with procurement, vendor coordination, and material tracking.
  • Support the preparation and tracking of submittents, Requests for Information (RFIs), purchase orders, and project documentation.
  • Assist with tracking project budgets, labor hours, production quantities, schedules, and change orders.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, suppliers, and clients.
  • Support quality control, testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities, including as-built and turnover documentation.
  • Visit active project sites periodically to observe construction progress and connect project planning activities to project execution.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of industrial electrical construction, project management, and leadership within the construction industry.
