About The Position

ENC is seeking an Electrical Process Engineer to develop and improve manufacturing processes for low- and high-voltage electrical systems in commercial vehicles. The role translates approved electrical designs into production-ready bills of materials, drawings, work instructions, and inspection procedures, and works with design engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure wiring harnesses and electrical components are built and installed correctly. The engineer resolves manufacturing issues and supports new products from prototype builds through production. The position covers electrical manufacturing documentation and processes, wiring and harness quality, prototype development and functional testing, production support and continuous improvement, and safe electrical assembly and testing. The engineer provides hands-on support on the production floor and around prototype vehicles, helps train production personnel, coordinates with suppliers, and supports LV and HV system integration and troubleshooting. This is an onsite position in Riverside, California. The listed salary range is $80,000–$115,000.

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant electrical manufacturing or process engineering experience, including hands-on experience with commercial vehicles.
  • Hands-on experience with HV electrical systems in electric or hybrid commercial vehicles, including battery packs, HV power distribution, contactors, pre-charge circuits, inverters, DC/DC converters, and charging systems.
  • Experience developing electrical assembly processes, production BOMs, work instructions, and inspection or test procedures.
  • Ability to interpret LV and HV electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, 2D drawings, and 3D assembly models.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive wiring harness construction, crimping, connectors, grounding, circuit protection, and power distribution.
  • Experience with HV cable installation, routing, inspection, HVIL verification, and insulation resistance testing.
  • Hands-on ability to troubleshoot vehicle electrical systems using multimeters, insulation resistance testers, diagnostic software, and other appropriate test equipment.
  • Experience following HV safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, verification of absence of voltage, and proper use of rated equipment and personal protective equipment.
  • Working knowledge of CAN bus communication and vehicle control systems.
  • Understanding of programming fundamentals, controller configuration, and software loading procedures.
  • Experience with engineering change control, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work regularly on the production floor and around prototype vehicles.

  • Experience with electric bus or truck manufacturing and new vehicle production launches.
  • Knowledge of battery management systems and their integration with vehicle controls.
  • Familiarity with SAE J1939 vehicle networks and CAN diagnostic tools.
  • Experience with harness design software, electrical CAD tools, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience developing end-of-line electrical tests and automated test fixtures.
  • Experience with PFMEA, control plans, error-proofing, and new product introduction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain electrical production BOMs, harness assembly and installation drawings, and work instructions based on approved engineering designs.
  • Define assembly sequences, wire routing, connector installation, fastening requirements, and inspection points for low- and high-voltage systems.
  • Establish requirements for production tools, crimping equipment, test fixtures, and electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Review electrical designs for manufacturability, installation access, serviceability, and error prevention.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and ensure production documents reflect the correct revisions.
  • Establish inspection criteria for in-house and supplier-built wiring harnesses, covering wire gauge and length, identification, pin assignments, terminal crimps, connector assembly, and workmanship.
  • Develop pre-installation verification procedures to detect wiring errors before harnesses are installed in vehicles.
  • Define and implement continuity, short-circuit, polarity, and other applicable electrical checks.
  • Verify installed wiring routing, support, protection, clearance, and strain relief.
  • Establish inspection requirements for HV cables and connections, including shielding, connector engagement, torque verification, and separation from other systems.
  • Investigate recurring defects and implement corrective actions to reduce rework and improve assembly quality.
  • Support electrical assembly, commissioning, and functional verification of prototype vehicles and newly developed products.
  • Develop inspection plans, test procedures, acceptance criteria, and test records with design engineering and quality.
  • Troubleshoot wiring, power distribution, grounding, sensors, actuators, controllers, and vehicle communication networks.
  • Support HV system integration and troubleshooting involving battery packs, contactors, pre-charge circuits, inverters, DC/DC converters, and charging systems.
  • Perform or support HVIL, insulation resistance, and other specified HV system checks using approved procedures.
  • Support approved controller programming, software loading, and parameter configuration while maintaining configuration traceability.
