About The Position

This is an entry-level position in the field of electrical and mechanical water and wastewater equipment and systems. The purpose of this classification is to perform administrative and entry-level specialized technical tasks to complete preventive maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, and communication equipment at water and wastewater pump stations, lift stations, and water tanks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by 6 months previous experience in plumbing, electrical or mechanical work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Participates in the preventive maintenance and repair activities of mechanical, electrical, and communication equipment at assigned facilities.
Assists with the maintenance and repairs of all electrical systems and components, telemetry and SCADA systems.
Provides assistance to licensed electricians and contractors with high voltage electrical work.
Assists in installing new equipment, removing small motors for repair and re-installing the same.
Inspects, maintains, and repairs pumps, chemical feeders, chlorinators, transmission fans, gear boxes, and other mechanical equipment; rebuilds and replaces parts; performs preventive maintenance.
Inspects and repairs air release valves, tanks, and booster stations, and transmission line valves; provides all electrical services for the same.
Observes and monitors flow meters, amp meters, and pressure gauges to determine compliance with operating standards.
Completes related maintenance tasks; fuels and lubricates systems; repairs lighting systems; conducts security inspections.
Completes paperwork for work orders and maintenance records.
Meets with contractors; assists with access to worksites, provides requested information.
Remains on-call to perform emergency tasks as needed.
