About The Position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer in Kennedy Space Center, Florida to plan and author procedures for the Orion Spacecraft Elements Team and provide floor support for Electrical & Mechanical Integration environments. The applicant will perform specific duties to include, but are not limited to: Performs various duties including creating and/or developing manufacturing work instructions. Determines the sequence of build, selecting or designing required tools, and solves production problems during the build of mechanical/electrical piece parts and assemblies. Assists in investigating design/manufacturing factors such as equipment or part availability, manufacturability, ease of assembly, and large assembly management. Develops and maintains all assembly documentation. Troubleshoot/correct anomalies and discrepant hardware. Performs producibility reviews on engineering designs/drawings to assess manufacturability, ease of assembly, and material availability. Routinely interfaces with program personnel and reports project status to leadership. Ability to work 3rd shift is required for this role. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Mechanical/Aerospace/ Electrical/Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Knowledge of production manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Experienced in the review of engineering drawings and as a floor liaison.
  • Experience and understanding of configuration management practices and databases such as Windchill, EPDM, or similar.
  • Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift, 2nd as needed.
  • Experience and understanding of SAP (VE CAMS) or similar supporting software for generating manufacturing work instructions, and engineering/manufacturing bill of materials.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret various technical procedures and reports.
  • Strong written communication including technical writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Skills in the Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space Systems system tools (STARS, Automation Framework, EPDM) or industry equivalent.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software such as CreoParametric, CreoView, EdgeCAM, Delmia.
  • Experience with structural installations.
  • Experience with electrical, structural, avionics, and mechanism installations.
  • Experience in the review of engineering drawings and as a floor liaison.
  • Experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • CNC knowledge
  • Knowledge of production manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Experience in a test and requirements verification environment.
  • Experience in Space Vehicle (SV) Test Operations including the test development process, test execution, data analysis, anomaly resolution and satellite software test systems.
  • Certified Test Conductor (CTC) with experience in SV Integration and Test including: Baseline Ambient, Full Functional, Thermal Vacuum, Acoustic, EMC/EMI, Final Functional, and Launch Base Operations
  • Ability to maintain process discipline in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to grow and seek new challenges
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors
  • Demonstrated experience in Assembly operations/Test operations.
  • Demonstrated technical writing and communication skills with experience writing system level test plans, test procedures, and test information sheets.
