We are seeking a multidisciplinary Electrical/Mechanical Ordnance Engineer to support the design, development, procurement, testing, and integration of ordnance initiation systems and associated electronics and ordnance hardware for the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program. This role blends mechanical/ordnance expertise with electronic hardware design, ensuring precise initiation, reliable power delivery, and compliance with safety, performance, and manufacturability requirements within the CPS flight system. Your duties will include responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the initiation system, separation, and mechanism ordnance components and assemblies. This job requires coordinating with customers, ordnance suppliers, test facilities, and other related disciplines including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities.

Requirements

  • Experience in Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering (with ordnance, electronic hardware, and/or flight safety systems)
  • Ability to design, integrate, and/or test initiation, separation, or related mechanisms with high reliability electronics.
  • Proficiency with mechanical CAD modeling/drafting and/or electronic CAD (e.g., PTC Creo/Windchill or similar).
  • Understanding of requirements definition, documentation, verification, and validation.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, team based environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with supply chain management, sub contracts, and procurement processes.
  • Experience with ordnance system integration (separation, ignition, initiation).
  • Expertise in power electronics, signal integrity, thermal management, and electromagnetic compatibility for aerospace/defense applications.
  • Proven ability to lead FRB investigations, perform RCCA, and conduct comprehensive failure analyses.
  • Prior work on space and/or missile defense missions and familiarity with ordnance initiation and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership as a Certified Principal Engineer (CPE), Subject Matter Engineer, or equivalent; experience coordinating small, diverse technical teams.
  • Ability to work autonomously, drive items to closure, and deliver error free, cost effective engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate ordnance initiation, separation, and mechanism components.
  • Lead conceptual development, requirements definition, and detailed mechanical/ordnance design.
  • Conduct trade studies and select optimal design solutions.
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses.
  • Develop and issue technical specifications & procurement packages for supplier sourced electronics.
  • Review and flow down power, signal integrity, thermal, safety, and manufacturability requirements into hardware designs.
  • Select, evaluate, and manage technical aspects of ordnance and electronic component procurements.
  • Coordinate with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and internal disciplines (systems, structures, analysis, manufacturing, quality, configuration management).
  • Oversee test plan development, test execution, data interpretation, and design iterations.
  • Perform worst case, parts stress, and FMECA analyses; lead Failure Review Board investigations and corrective actions.
  • Lead or mentor small, diverse technical teams; serve as Principal/Subject Matter Engineer when required.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to stakeholders, subcontractors, and customers.
