About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical & Mechanical Engineer to support the design, capacity planning, and energy optimization efforts across our global colocation data center portfolio. This role focuses on brownfield projects, including infrastructure upgrades, retrofits, and expansions of existing facilities, ensuring operational continuity and efficiency. You will work closely with engineering teams, contractors, commissioning agents, and internal systems to execute technical solutions for AC/DC power and HVAC systems, while contributing to energy efficiency initiatives and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data center or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC power systems, HVAC infrastructure, and energy management.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SKM Power Tool (or similar), CFD tools, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize tasks, and drive results across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, 24x7 operational environment.

Nice To Haves

  • LEED Certification is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience in managing complex engineering projects is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and deployment of AC and DC power distribution systems and HVAC upgrades, working with MEP design engineering firms.
  • Support integration of new systems with existing infrastructure in live data center environments.
  • Review Electrical Engineering Construction Packages and Method of Procedures (MOPs) working with local operation team and construction team.
  • Review short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies; provide recommendations to improve electrical safety, reliability, and compliance.
  • Participate in commissioning and turn-up of new electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Review the existing mechanical and electrical capacity and brainstorm design options to densify and enhance capacity in the new design.
  • Ensure timely infrastructure scaling to meet operational and customer requirements.
  • Working knowledge of CFD modeling to evaluate airflow and thermal performance and recommend design enhancements that improve cooling capacity and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain documentation for commercial power, generator, UPS, and DC power systems.
  • Review, understand, and implement design engineering guidelines during project execution.
  • Support energy efficiency initiatives and track cost avoidance metrics.
  • Collect and validate data from energy-related systems (e.g., BMS, EMS).
  • Collaborate with IT teams to enhance reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Work closely with space design engineers, operations leadership, product teams, and the asset management team to align infrastructure upgrades with business goals and customer requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional planning and execution of brownfield projects, ensuring seamless integration, timely delivery, and adherence to scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Develop and manage project plans, risk assessments, and stakeholder communications throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Travel to field sites for audits, inspections, and technical support.
