Electrical Manufacturing NPI Engineer

Arista Networks•Santa Clara, CA

About The Position

Arista Networks is seeking an experienced Electrical Manufacturing New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer to lead manufacturing readiness and product transfer for complex data center networking equipment, including switches, routers, and optical transport gear. The role calls for expertise in high-speed signal integrity and high-density electronics, cross-functional leadership, and experience bringing high-volume, high-quality products from design through mass production. The engineer will partner with Hardware, Mechanical, and Thermal Engineering teams and connect Design, NPI, and full-scale production. Responsibilities span manufacturing-process development, Design for X (DFX) reviews, product lifecycle activities, and sustaining support. The position leads manufacturing readiness for next-generation networking products, including production-line planning, capacity modeling, capital equipment procurement, and manufacturing technology roadmaps. It also leads DFM, DFA, and DFT reviews; develops processes and functional test strategies; oversees automated test equipment; and provides sustaining engineering support for complex product issues. Technical areas include high-layer-count PCBs, high-speed interconnects, optical modules, thermal and liquid-cooling solutions, and system-level testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • At least 3 years dedicated to NPI and successful high-volume product launches in the data center networking equipment industry.
  • Expert-level knowledge of high-layer-count PCBA manufacturing, specialized BGA/FC-BGA soldering and rework, and process control for large-format electronic boards.
  • Proven experience designing and qualifying production functional test systems and managing test coverage for complex network systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise applying PFMEA, SPC, and DOE.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence technical and executive stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Direct experience managing manufacturing processes at global contract manufacturers or ODMs specializing in complex networking or telecom equipment.
  • Hands-on experience manufacturing and testing systems using water cooling, liquid cooling, or immersive cooling for network processors.
  • Experience with signal-integrity test equipment and analysis techniques such as TDR and VNA, as well as optical power and high-speed data transmission.
  • Fluency in advanced data analysis tools such as JMP and Python for statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the manufacturing readiness process for complex, next-generation data center networking products.
  • Plan production-line layouts, model capacity, and procure capital equipment to support production ramp-up.
  • Define and maintain the manufacturing technology roadmap, identifying and implementing processes and equipment for advanced component packaging and high-layer-count PCBs.
  • Lead DFM, DFA, and DFT reviews and influence product architecture to improve yield, quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Address DFX considerations for high-speed interconnects, optical modules, and sensitive RF paths.
  • Drive component selection and supplier process audits, focusing on high-reliability components and clocking/timing circuits.
  • Develop robust manufacturing processes and system-level functional test strategies, including traffic generation and analysis, line-rate testing, and high-temperature burn-in.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of Automated Test Equipment development, including measurement of bit error rate and signal quality and alignment with deployment requirements and system diagnostics.
  • Provide sustaining engineering guidance for persistent issues involving signal integrity, optical modules, and system-level performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product development, manufacturing readiness, product lifecycle activities, and sustaining support.
