About The Position

To support our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Manager to join our Miami office. In this role, you will provide technical expertise across our operating fleet, supporting complex electrical troubleshooting and working closely with onboard teams, superintendents, and manufacturers to deliver effective, long-term solutions. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of all electrical systems, from power generation through to propulsion, while contributing to the ongoing excellence of our operations at sea

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of the English language is required, additional languages are beneficial.
  • Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant working experience as multi-skilled field service engineer, or at least five (5) years working as onboard 1st ETO / Chief Electrician on Cruise ships.
  • Advanced understanding of marine electrical power plants, propulsion plants and combined electrical concepts required to fulfil this role, for example, Load sharing, synchronisation process, AVR control, protection relay settings, safeties inherent to shore power, high Voltage (11.0 kV and 6.6 kV), Low Voltage (690v down to 12Vdc), harmonics, propulsion limitations.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organise, delegate, and control the work process.
  • Expertise on how to operate High voltage generators, high voltage generator voltage controls, engine PID, High / low voltage switchgear and distribution switchboards, high voltage circuit breakers and protective devices, PLC, Integrated Automation System, Power Management System and Propulsion system (working experience on ABB, GE or INGETEAM systems required).
  • A strong understanding of high voltage safety.
  • Familiar with electrical engineering and installation standards including IEC, IEEE, API, IMO MODU, SOLAS, and class regulations (BV, RINA).
  • Ability to manage workload and priorities.
  • Ability to travel worldwide onboard.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support remotely and onboard depending on the emergency.
  • Manages the crises when unexpected technical issues arise, whilst ensuring minimal impact to the guest and cruise schedule.
  • Makes periodic visits to the vessels to check progress of work and to carry out onboard surveys when required.
  • Provides onboard training and assesses the electrical team for potential evolution.
  • Analyses and reviews technical specifications for vessel’s refit and repair. Ensures that solutions are tested and verified beforehand by attending the FATs and following their implementation onboard.
  • Attends dry docks and assists the Electrical Superintendents with scheduled and unforeseen jobs by coordinating with the shipyard, contractors’ team leaders and the ships staff.
  • Supports the ships and Ship Superintendent to comply with Class, Flag State, SOLAS, USPH and Company's SMS requirements
  • Develops procedures and lessons learned.
  • Works together with the electrical superintendents of the vessels for approving ship’s requests, dealing with obsolescence management, issuing boarding passes and accommodation requests.
  • Identifies and assists with critical spare parts inventories onboard.
