About The Position

The Electrical Maintenance role supports safe and efficient plant operations through engineering and maintenance work. The position evaluates workplace safety and production processes, takes appropriate corrective action, and provides engineering support, including PLC programming and design, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and support for blow molding and auxiliary equipment. It also develops cost-saving improvements, prepares technical drawings, assists with plant layouts, and coordinates engineering and maintenance projects from planning through commissioning and operations. The role monitors work for compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and Silgan Plastics standards, and coordinates project communication among disciplines, participants, and management. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate workplace safety and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
• Know and apply written safety procedures; recommend engineering, PPE, or training solutions for high-exposure areas based on near-miss and accident reports.
• Inspect work areas for unsafe acts and complete projects and assignments safely and efficiently.
• Investigate production processes and take appropriate action to maintain and improve production efficiencies within established standards and guidelines.
• Provide plant engineering support, including PLC programming and program design, and electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Support the design, improvement, and fabrication of internally developed and purchased blow molding and auxiliary equipment.
• Develop and implement cost-saving measures for current production methods and machines.
• Provide detailed electrical and mechanical drawings as needed, and assist in developing plant layouts and improvements.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Establish and maintain project schedules from inception through commissioning and operations.
• Coordinate technical activities on assigned projects; plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned engineering and maintenance work.
• Monitor work for compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and Silgan Plastics standards.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned projects among disciplines, project participants, and management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
