The Electrical Maintenance Technician performs varied industrial electrical maintenance work, identifying efficient ways to complete assigned tasks and meeting required quality and proficiency standards. The role requires independent judgment, effective communication and organization, and the ability to maintain positive working relationships. The technician tests, calibrates, diagnoses, and repairs devices, generally with minimal supervision or assistance from a supervisor or Electrical Engineering within the Maintenance Group. Work includes maintaining facility structures and plant and shop electrical and electronic systems; repairing, installing, and modifying electrical, electromechanical, and electronic equipment and components; troubleshooting circuitry; and performing preventive maintenance. The technician reads and interprets prints and schematics, uses specialized imaging for infrared analysis, and may modify prototypes under the general direction of an Electrical Engineer. The employee must follow company safety procedures and be willing and able to operate powered industrial truck equipment such as scissor lifts. The work involves frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 40–75 pounds, prolonged standing, and varying amounts of bending, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Some facility areas may involve potentially hazardous materials requiring additional PPE. The employee may occasionally encounter extreme heat and work near moving mechanical parts, chemicals, coolants, oils, and electrical power. Safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes are required in designated areas.
