About The Position

As an Electrical Machine Maintenance employee with John Deere Waterloo Works, you will lay out, install, modify, and maintain complex electrical circuits and electronic equipment. In addition, you will diagnose and remedy electrical problems while focusing on safety, quality, and teamwork. Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following: Work from intricate wiring diagrams and schematic drawings involving the use of standard electrical symbols for power, control, and measurement. In addition, work from prints, sketches, and verbal instructions. Plan work sequence and select materials and tools needed for given task. Establish primary and secondary distribution centers, balance loads, and wire circuits having many units and connections. Locate and correct electrical issues of various nature including working on high voltage circuits which may require the use of rigging, ladders and building structure. Install and/or maintain motors, generators, lights, electronic equipment, transformers, switches, lightning arrestors, welding equipment, power and light lines, control panels, automatic controls, switchboards, etc. Troubleshoot and repair PLC, HDMI, CNC controllers, AC/DC motors, servos, robotics, etc. Assist and support other team members and work with minimal supervision. Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job. Work shifts (choice of shift based on seniority).

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
  • At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience
  • Electrical journeyperson’s card or degree in electronics / electrical engineering or related certificate from a post-secondary educational institution or a state industrial electrician’s license or at least 2 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience (or equivalent Military experience and training).
  • Thorough knowledge of both national and local electrical safety codes.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift – with or without reasonable accommodation; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability and willingness to work potential overtime (including weekends).

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyperson card, or a post-secondary degree (2 or 4 years), in related technical field.
  • At least 5 years electrical maintenance experience
  • At least 2 years of experience troubleshooting CNC machine tools, automated manufacturing equipment, and building automation systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience with AC/DC drives, servo systems, and motion control.
  • At least 2 years of experience utilizing PLC skills including ladder logic experience and online diagnostics.
