About The Position

As a Building Repair & Welding Maintenance employee with John Deere Waterloo Works, you will perform carpentry, steel, and welding work in constructing, repairing, and maintaining buildings, warehouses, tools, structures, dies, jigs, and equipment in a production environment focused on safety, quality, and teamwork. Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following: Work from prints, sketches, manuals, verbal and written instructions, or procedures to plan and perform work responsibilities. Plan job, obtain necessary materials, and utilize necessary jigs, fixtures, and holding devices required to perform work. Repair and maintain buildings - including plaster, concrete, masonry, framing, roofing, and steel. Maintain internal infrastructure – including partitions, tracks, conveyors, rails, switches, support steel, jibs, hoists. Prepare parts for welding. Create and use jigs, fixtures, holding devices. Select correct welding process and welding setting for the job and perform certified welding when required. Perform brazing, torch heating, silver soldering, metal spraying and flame cutting as required. Assist and support other team members and work with minimal supervision. Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job. Work shifts (choice of shift based on seniority).

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. OR National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) OR At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience.
  • At least 2 years of millwright or iron work experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience laying out, fabricating, repairing steel structures such as jib and bridge cranes, and reading/working with blueprints/drawings.
  • Weld certification or at least 2 years of experience welding.
  • At least 1 year of experience setting up and using cutting torches (Oxy-acetylene).
  • Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability and willingness to work potential overtime (including weekends).

Nice To Haves

  • At least 3 years of experience welding in a manufacturing environment.
  • Journeyperson card in welding or related field
