About The Position

This is a full-time, hourly position at ADM's West Plant in Decatur, IL. The role involves performing electrical and instrumentation maintenance tasks, including installation, repair, calibration, and troubleshooting of various devices and systems. The specialist will also be involved in general industrial maintenance activities and must be available for overtime, holdovers, and call-ins. The position requires a commitment to safety and the ability to work in diverse environments, including hazardous locations. On-the-job training will be provided for specific skills and certifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience and/or equivalent degree or schooling in an industrial or commercial setting
  • Able to run conduit, troubleshoot, read blueprints
  • Associates Degree and/or Instrumentation education and knowledge of a PLC
  • Industrial safety experience required, including, but not limited to, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Arc Flash, Level 1-3 Electrical Training, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate with other employees in a clear and professional manner
  • Commitment to ADM’s goal of achieving a zero injury culture by being an active participant in safety programs
  • Exhibit regular and prompt attendance
  • Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment, to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs in all buildings, and use manlifts
  • Able to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 55 pounds overhead
  • Able to operate equipment or diagnose/detect issues of machinery that may be located at different heights, at times requiring work on ladders, scaffolding, or other work at heights or in confined spaces
  • Ability and willingness to wear respirators
  • Ability to walk up to two (2) miles during the course of a workday over uneven ground surfaces, and/or walking over Railroad tracks.
  • Must be able to work around noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift
  • Employees in roles that require respirators will need to be clean shaven.
  • Successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Install, replace, repair, calibrate, and/or troubleshoot 4-20ma devices (temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, flow transmitters, control valves, pH monitors, various types of level transmitters, pneumatic devices, etc.)
  • Use of HART communicator as required
  • Install and wire up PLC racks, power supplies, I/O cards, communication, scale transmitter inputs, etc. and troubleshoot issues with these items
  • Terminate motors, troubleshoot controls, with use of multi-meter
  • Maintain accurate and thorough knowledge of manuals, publications, and files concerning equipment, programs, and production processes
  • Communicate with other employees in a clear and professional manner and cooperate with other departments and management
  • Perform general industrial maintenance activities outside of instrumentation scope of work
  • Be available for potential overtime, hold over, and call-ins
  • Work in food grade and industrial areas including hazardous locations (Class I & Class II)
  • Participate in safety programs
  • Undergo on-the-job training to acquire skills and certifications
  • Complete ADM safety, food safety, quality, and environmental training
  • Participate in company planner operations training
  • Complete equipment training which may include JLP, Forklift, Non-DOT Truck, Reach Lift, Lock Out/Tag Out, etc.
