About The Position

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Maintenance Mechanics to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS). The E&I Maintenance Mechanic installs and performs maintenance on basic electrical and electronic equipment. Under close supervision, assists with performance of moderately complex maintenance tasks on electrical or electronic equipment. Attends classroom, on-the-job, and other assigned training.

  • Demonstrated experience/training consistent with the duties outlined above (e.g. communications/ controls, HVAC/refrigeration, construction, residential wiring, equipment repair, auto repair)
  • Associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, Electronic Instrumentation Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, Electromechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Works from approved standard and special procedures taking guidance from management and experienced mechanics as warranted
  • Completes work orders
  • Follows/complies with applicable safety, radiological control policies and procedures, and site lockout/tagout program
  • Assembles instrumentation and electrical or electronic apparatus from material and parts following instructions
  • Performs routine electrical/electronic tasks such as changing light bulbs, running conduit, replacing components, calibration of basic instrumentation and electrical/electronic devices
  • Assists more experienced mechanics with the installation, inspection and maintenance of moderately complex instruments, electrical and electronic equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and allied equipment
  • Operates motorized vehicles and associated equipment within licensing limits
  • Successfully completes classroom, on-the-job training, lectures, seminars and other forms of training
  • Meets the physical requirements for the essential job duties, which may include being able to lift/handle 50 pounds, climbing, bending, twisting, exposure to extreme temperatures, wearing protective clothing/equipment (including respiratory) and meeting radiological control (RCI) requirements
  • Performs administrative functions such as reading, reviewing and understanding manuals and procedures.
  • Performs clerical activities as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
