About The Position

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two days remote. The position involves utilizing and expanding drafting skills within a multi-disciplined team environment. Responsibilities include preparing design drawings based on input, applying computer-aided drafting skills, and receiving training in design software like AutoCAD and MicroStation. The role is part of the Energy & Industrial Group, focusing on projects such as Power Generation Stations, Oil & Gas facilities, and Carbon Capture/Emissions Controls. Tasks include creating physical and plan drawings to scale, showing proposed installations relative to existing facilities with exact specifications and dimensions, as well as various non-physical drawings and diagrams. You may accompany experienced designers on client facility walkdowns for information gathering. Interfacing with vendors and construction contractors may involve explaining drawings for design adjustments. Adherence to company and project drafting and design standards, plans, and schedules is expected.

Requirements

A high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience.
Six (6) or more years of Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls design experience, including 2D & 3D.
Advanced drafting experience using standard computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD or MicroStation) on power plants or other large-scale industrial facilities projects.
Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.
Ability to multi-task from project to project.

Nice To Haves

Associates Degree in Computer Aided Design
Experience using both AutoCAD and MicroStation software.
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design.
Experience in the development of grounding layouts, underground duct bank and embedded conduit drawings, cable tray and exposed conduit layouts, instrument location plans, area classification plans, and electrical equipment location drawings.
Design experience in the development of single-line, and relay and metering diagrams, including medium-voltage and 480V systems.
Familiarity with digital control systems.
Experience with 3D Lighting Calculation programs.
Experience in Heat trace design.

Responsibilities

Prepare design drawings based on design input.
Apply computer-aided drafting skills.
Create physical and plan drawings to scale, showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions.
Create various non-physical drawings and diagrams.
Accompany and assist experienced designers on walkdowns at client facilities to gather information for design projects.
Explain drawings to vendors and construction contractors so appropriate design adjustments can be made.
Utilize company and project drafting and design standards.
Adhere to plans and schedules.
Produce wiring diagrams and schematics for installers and electricians.
Assist engineers with initial design requirements.
Conceptualize plans and details to accurately convey wiring termination requirements.
Interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines.
Interpret P&IDs and Instrumentation wiring.
Provide I&C input into P&IDs.
Travel as necessary for client meetings, job site visits, and data gathering.
