About The Position

The APEX Power Co. Project in Hubbard, TX, currently under Phase 1 construction, is expected to expand to 1.6 GW. It features a diverse mix of generation technologies, including Siemens SGT-800/400 simple cycle turbines, MAN/Everllence 18V51/60G gas reciprocating engines, GE LM6000/LM2500 simple cycle turbines, Pratt & Whitney FT8 simple cycle turbines, and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enabling flexible, reliable power output. Future expansion may include additional GE aero and large frame units (6B, 7FA/7FB/7H) in simple or combined cycle configurations, allowing the plant to efficiently meet varying energy demands while supporting data center grid reliability. Opportunity Summary As Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (EI&C) Supervisor at the APEX Power Co. Project, you will lead and mentor EI&C Technicians while overseeing the installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation, control devices, motors, drives, and electrical systems across turbines, engines, and BESS units. During the pre-commissioning phase, you will ensure control systems are verified, critical materials and high-value components are staged and ready, and technicians are trained and supported to safely execute functional testing and system start-ups. In ongoing operations, you will optimize PLC, DCS, SCADA, and BESS performance, coordinate with engineering and operations teams, and maintain a proactive safety and compliance culture across all EI&C activities. As EI&C Supervisor, your responsibilities specific to the Pre-Commissioning Phase include the following functions: Participate in initial training and become fully familiar with plant systems, SCADA/DCS controls, turbines, engines, BESS, instrumentation, and safety procedures. Verify alarms, interlocks, signal logic, and instrumentation calibration, ensuring all control systems are ready for functional and startup testing. Stage, inspect, and prepare construction and commissioning materials, spare parts, and high-value components for installation and system testing. Support commissioning engineers, technical teams, and third-party contractors during cold/hot tests, system startups, functional checks, and early control system optimization. Ensure proper handling, storage, and environmental conditions for sensitive electronics, PLCs, control panels, and critical components to maintain operational readiness. Accurately document test results, observations, and equipment status while training and guiding technicians to ensure readiness, safety, and traceability during pre-commissioning. Your scope of responsibility as EI&C Supervisor includes the following primary functions: Directly supervise EI&C Technicians, providing guidance, assigning daily tasks, and prioritizing workloads to ensure efficient operations. Lead and oversee installation, calibration, and preventive maintenance of instrumentation, control devices, motors, drives, and electrical systems across turbines, engines, and BESS. Provide technical direction and hands-on support for corrective, predictive, and emergency maintenance on medium- and high-voltage electrical systems. Monitor and optimize PLC, DCS, SCADA, and BESS system performance, troubleshooting faults and coordinating programming adjustments with engineering teams. Ensure operational reliability of all control and electrical systems under varying plant conditions, identifying and resolving issues proactively. Coordinate EI&C work schedules with Operations, Mechanical, and Engineering to minimize downtime and prevent conflicts between teams. Supervise safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous or regulated materials, including batteries, inverters, transformers, and instrumentation waste. Maintain accountability for EI&C tools, test equipment, and specialized instruments, ensuring proper storage, calibration, and readiness for technicians. Review and maintain accurate maintenance logs, calibration records, work histories, and control system updates to support operational readiness. Foster a proactive safety culture by coaching technicians, conducting daily hazard assessments, and enforcing compliance with plant safety protocols. Provide technical mentorship and on-the-job training to EI&C Technicians, ensuring proficiency in troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, and system operations. Stage, track, and ensure readiness of critical parts, materials, and high-value components to support technician workflows for maintenance and operational tasks. Conduct performance monitoring and optimization of turbines, engines, and BESS units, guiding technicians on adjustments to maximize efficiency and reliability. Provide real-time technical oversight and guidance to contractors or vendors performing EI&C work during outages, maintenance projects, or pre-commissioning activities. Lead EI&C response during plant emergencies, directing technicians to safely shut down, isolate, and restore control and electrical systems. Perform other duties as assigned to support safe, reliable, and compliant plant operations.
