About The Position

Nebraska Public Power District is hiring an Electrical/Instrument & Control/Combustion Turbine Intern at Sheldon Station in Hallam, Nebraska. The internship runs from early or mid-May to mid-August. The intern will learn and receive mentoring from experienced Electrical/I&C/Combustion Turbine technicians while supporting electrical maintenance, testing, and operational activities for NPPD Energy Production. The position includes work at Sheldon Station and/or the three peaking sites, occasional travel and overnight stays, and responding to emergencies. The intern must complete a background check, physical, and drug screening before starting and must report wearing safety shoes meeting ASTM F2413-05 specifications. The position reports to the Electrical/I&C/Combustion Turbine Manager.

Requirements

Successfully completed freshman year at an accredited college in Electrical Technology, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or Electrical Construction and Control.
Complete a background check, physical, and drug screening before starting.
Wear safety shoes meeting ASTM F2413-05 specifications.

Responsibilities

Install, check out, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and operate electrical equipment.
Complete repair, maintenance, modifications, troubleshooting, and preventive/predictive maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment at Sheldon Station and/or the three peaking sites.
Follow policies and procedures to ensure work is completed correctly and safely.
Safely plan, organize, and perform emergent and scheduled work.
Utilize work management processes.
Respond to emergencies.
Travel occasionally, including occasional overnight stays.
Perform other duties as assigned.
