About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the achievement of the company’s strategic objectives and annual goals through the delivery of exceptional instruction to students in the Electrical trade. The instructor will perform services reflective of Total Tech’s core principles and values, developing and presenting lesson plans, preparing assignments and assessments, and delivering technical training curriculum centered on the established basics of the Electrical trade. The role requires maintaining and enriching personal technical knowledge, greeting students, teaching and demonstrating effective principles and safe methods for using tools and equipment, monitoring and grading student performance, conducting standardized tests, verifying student competencies, maintaining classroom order and functionality, managing inventory, and assisting in the implementation of new course objectives. Additionally, the instructor will train, coach, and mentor students, investigate safety issues, resolve equipment problems, communicate the value of trade knowledge and certification, and incorporate emerging technologies into the curriculum.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license approved to drive by Company’s insurance carrier.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and be confident in speaking to a large group.
  • Must be highly organized with good attention to detail and follow through.
  • Possess good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
  • Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed expectations.
  • Function independently, in a team or group environment, possessing a willingness to lead a in a way that produces positive outcomes.
  • Must be able to use a computer or tablet.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student/employee performance issues and concerns.
  • Willing to continue training for personal growth as well as participating in the training of new employees.
  • Willing to work to fullfill the company objectives and at times, workhours outside of the normal schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and presents specific lesson plans, using a variety of techniques, including lectures, projects, audiovisual and library resources, computers, and the internet.
  • Prepares assignments and assessments for in-class preparation and homework.
  • Deliver technical training curriculum, centered on the established basics of the Electrical trade.
  • Maintains and enriches own technical knowledge by reading journals and manuals, specialized reports, occupational safety newsletters, and trade magazines.
  • Greet students as they enter the facility and prepare them for the Total Tech experience.
  • Teach and demonstrate effective principles, procedures or methods, to include class work, hands-on training, and exams.
  • Teach and demonstrate safe, approved methods to use hand and power tools, and other industry-related equipment required for the trades.
  • Monitors, assists, corrects, and grades student performance and subject competency.
  • Conducts standardized tests in accordance with district policies and state law.
  • Verify student competencies, reviewing progress and assessing performance.
  • Maintains order in classroom to achieve proper conduct and decorum is maintained.
  • Keeps records of academic performance and attendance.
  • Maintains the functionality of the classroom and lab areas.
  • Inventory, order and maintain material and tool stockage levels.
  • Assist in all implementation phases of new course objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., exporting recycle materials and trash or making coffee).
  • Train, coach and mentor students in the best practices of the Electrical trade.
  • Investigate any reported safety issues.
  • Resolve any issues involving missing and/or damaged tools and any equipment malfunction.
  • Communicate the value of trade knowledge and trade certification.
  • Incorporate emerging technology and practices within the technical trade industry into the curriculum.
  • Periodically review training curriculum to ensure relevance to industry changes and for developing innovative hand-on learning.
  • Assist in development phases for new or existing courses.
